Fiona Howell
Fiona has been a member of Stillington Squash Racquets Club
since 1985 and until recently, served on the club’s committee for many years.
A core
member of the Stillington Ladies set up, Fiona is a multiple winner
of club titles and is proud to have been a regular in the team which
won the York & District Ladies Squash League in 2018/19; the very
first time that any SSRC team has been League Champions.
Fiona qualified as a Level 1 coach in 2009 and successfully
completed the Level 2 qualification in early 2018. As a volunteer,
she leads the club’s team training event on Wednesday evenings 20:00-21:00.
In
addition Fiona shares the lead role at coaching sessions for
beginners and less experienced players of all ages on Wedneday
evenings from 19:00-20:00.
As a mum, over a number of seasons Fiona spent a good deal her
time taxiing her son, Tom, to England Squash junior
ranking tournaments across the north of England and the
midlands.
Now Tom represents SSRC as its No.1 player in York &
District League as well as playing Yorkshire League squash for the
highly renowned Pontefract Squash and Leisure Club.
